Baby Bjorn Recall
A recall on around 49,000 Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Active was announced on
September 14th, 2004. The hazard with this carrier was that the support
buckle can possibly detach from the shoulder straps, and the baby could fall
from the carrier.
The Baby Bjorn Recall report states that there were 93 incidences of the
back support buckle detaching on the infant carrier. There were no injuries
reported.
The Baby Bjorn Recall states that all persons using this carrier should stop
using the carrier and contact Regal Lager for information on returning the
carrier for repairs.
The Baby Bjorn Recall stated that the carriers were sold under the name
“Baby Bjorn” and this information is printed on the front of the carrier and
on the back on the black molded support buckle. The model number is on the
care label on the strap of the carrier and is Model number 1-260. These
carriers were sold from September 2003 through August 15th at specialty
retail store, catalog orders and internet sites.
The Baby Bjorn soft fabric infant carriers that were sold from January 1991
through October 1998 were recalled because the leg openings are too big for
small babies. The recall included over 240,000 that were sold through stores
and catalog orders. The name "Baby Bjorn" was printed on the strap and on
the front and came in many colors. Smaller babies may slip through the
openings of the leg holes.
Do not use this product on babies less than 2 months of age. You can also
can the manufacturer for a kit that will allow you to reduce the size of the
leg openings if needed.
Both of these Baby Bjorn Recalls do not affect products on the market today.
Baby Bjorn has corrected these problems in all carriers available.
